Specific functional benefits

All Members are entitled to any or all of the following services, which are taken into account in arriving at the annual membership fee. Services are supported by a telephone Hotline.

Insurance

We negotiate the terms of insurance of property, contents, employers' liability, public liability, Governors' liability, motor vehicles and all other relevant forms of insurance. With the Group's insured property value now exceeding £500 million we are well placed to obtain significantly better premiums than available to an individual school.

Accounting Support Services

Bearing in mind that only a minority of school bursars are qualified accountants, it can be valuable to be able to draw regularly on external professional expertise without paying audit firm charge-out rates. To find out more about our accounting support services, please click here.

Recruitment Service for Senior Staff

We provide the secretariat for and general advice to Governors on the recruitment of Heads and Bursars for all Founder Members, and this service is also available to New Members by arrangement.

Appraisal

We can conduct appraisals of Bursars and assist with the appraisal of Heads.

Electricity Purchasing

We have arranged for a number of schools to buy electricity through a forward purchasing arrangement designed to achieve significant savings.

Pre-Payment of Fees Scheme

We operate a scheme for the pre-payment of school fees by payment of a lump sum. This has remained popular even in times of low interest rates.

Monthly Payroll Services

We provide a payroll service for 3 of our member schools, which, because of our familiarity with the schools, represents a more personal and usually more economic service than available externally.

Investment Fund Administration

We administer school funds to a value of over £4 million, covering scholarships, bursaries, prizes, pre-payment of fees and general reserves.

Preferential Banking Terms

Because of the size of the group and the distribution of risk we are usually able to obtain better interest rates for all members.

Discounted Services

Allied Schools continually seeks to help members reduce or contain costs by negotiation of favourable terms on services such as Health and Safety advice.

Governing Body Support

We can conduct reviews of Governance, support specific Governor led initiatives and advise Chairmen and Governors on legal responsibilities and duties.
